SA universities with the highest internet speed

MyBroadband’s broadband speed test results show that Technikon Pretoria (Tshwane University of Technology) has the highest peak broadband speed among local universities.

MyBroadband’s new HTML 5 speed test servers are hosted in Teraco’s vendor-neutral data centres to ensure a neutral testing environment.

Through NAPAfrica, all network operators present at its peering points are provided with a free 1Gbps connection to the MyBroadband speed test platform.

The new MyBroadband speed test platform was designed to be lightweight and easy to use on mobile devices.

Over 30,000 speed tests were conducted on the new MyBroadband speed test platform during its launch week, which provides a large data set for analysis.

According to the results, Tshwane University of Technology had the highest peak broadband speed at 894Mbps.

Other impressive results include North West University with 877Mbps, and the University of the Free State with 389Mbps.
