Nomination: HEFMA President Elect

The Executive Committee invites nomination of a suitably qualified member for the position of President Elect as defined in the Constitution and Bylaws.


Nominations / applications need to reach the Secretary by 16:00 on 30 Septeber 2016.


Should a person be nominated by a person other than the applicant the signature of the nominee must be obtained.

President Elect

Powers and Duties:

a. Shall accept the office of President following term of office as President Elect

b. Shall be a member of the Executive Committee;

c. Shall, in the absence of the President, perform the duties of the President;

d. Shall, in the event of a vacancy in the office of President, serve as President until a new President is named by the Executive Committee to serve out the remaining term;

e. The President Elect will become thoroughly acquainted with the affairs of the Association in order to provide capable leadership upon becoming President; and provide oversight for the affairs of the association.

f. As President of the Association, he/she will be considered the chief executive officer of the Association and perform all duties commonly incidental to and vested in the office of the chief executive officer of a corporation; and have general knowledge of and provide leadership responsibility for the business aspects of the Association. Duties to include preparation of the agenda for the Executive and the Annual General Meeting, as well as meetings of the Institutional Members Forum.

g. As Immediate Past President, he/she will be Chair of the Membership and Nominations Committees among other duties as assigned by the Executive.


a. Demonstrated record and past history of significant leadership service in an applicable industry association, institutional committees, and/or the profession in general.

b. Past history of successful association/organisation work related to complex organisations and diverse populations.

c. Shall not be within 3 years of normal retirement age.

d. Shall have the full support of the employer institution to accept the duties of President Elect and to be able to commit to the travel programme for the 3 year period. A letter from the employer to this effect should be included with the nomination form.
