University of Ghana to host African universities summit

The University of Ghana, Legon, is set to host other African Universities on “Globalization and Policy Direction for African Higher Education”.

The summit, which is in partnership with Times Higher Education, and slated for April 27-29, 2016, is to focus global attention on the developments in various African universities.

According to Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey “the world does not know that many African institutions are going through a lot of change … becoming more and more global players; so through this summit, we expect to make people more aware of the developed opportunities for African universities”.

He said the summit would discuss the impact of globalization on higher education in Africa, with emphasis on access and other opportunities.

The summit is thus expected to bring together “some of the best known vice chancellors from the region to be here; to allow people to hear the African voice when it comes to higher education”, Prof Aryeetey said.
