All is set for the HEFMA conference (programme released)

With less than 2 weeks before the HEFMA Conference kicks off, everything is set and ready and the programme for the entire week has been released by the organisers. The 5-day event, which will take place in Richards Bay, will be graced by honourable dignitaries from both the local and international Facilities Management scene. Various speakers will make presentation on some of the key elements of Facility Management. The conference will take place from 12 October to 16 October 2015.

The programme for the week is as follows;

Buses will depart from Empangeni to Waterfront every morning at 8am from Monday until Thursday. On arrival, delegates will be served with breakfast on all days and on Tuesday after breakfast delegates will be given a chance to do late registration. Different facilitators from different universities such as MMU, DUT AND UCT will be hosts from Tuesday to Thursday.

Monday will mainly be HEFMA committee meeting and forums headed by the President and the hosting and welcoming of international guests at the Protea Waterfront.

M. Ngoma who will be presenting TUT will share with the delegates on Tuesday about new projects at TUT.

A representative from APPA, R Hare from Washington and Lee University will deliver a speech on Tuesday morning as well. This delegate is a guest speaker from the United States of America and will share his vast knowledge on the Facility management profession in his country.

There will be a vast presence of professional speakers such as J. Eiselen from the Academy of Facilities Management who will deliver a presentation on FM Standards on Wednesday morning.

TEFMA will be represented by S Sullivan from the University of Sydney who will give a presentation on Thursday. This is one of the international delegates that will grace the occasion.

Some of the interesting topics that will be discussed, amongst many others, include

  • FM’s spheres of influence
  • Security enhancement
  • Strategic goals
  • Benchmarking
  • Water management
  • Occupational Safety
  • Universal access

Other delegates that will make presentations include, C Fransolet, T Humphreys from the University of Leicester, J. Manyaka from University of Johannesburg, D. Dalling from Kovco Green who will make a presentation on Water Management.

This is just the tip of an iceberg as there are many other activities such as more presentations, a drive to campus site visit to KwaDlangezwa and group photo sessions. All delegates will depart on Friday after having breakfast.
